about

pillars of the soft hum
attend the vaults
following that harmonious glow
one hovers in the dome
touch dwells in the apse
tower vibrates above the portal
dome prolongs the drone

Ivars Arutyunyan and Edgars Rubenis is a duo consisting of two Latvian musicians whose improvisational music blends ambient sound scapes and percussive elements.

Drummer Ivars Arutyunyan and guitar player Edgars Rubenis met in late spring of 2011 and decided to make music together after discovering a shared interest in drones, eerie atmospheres and improvisation.

Their debut album 'Temple of Sound' comes from a three day recording session during which everything from densely aggressive metal drone, country, early morning to ghost music and cripple kraut-rock was given equal chance of ending up on the record. The tracks that finally were picked for the album shape it in a minimal, slowly evolving and subtle work that carries a spirit of observance and awareness.

Improv saxophone player Ilia Belorukov (Wozzeck, solo performer) from St. Petersburg makes an appearance on one track of the album.

The music on 'Temple of Sound' is supplied with a haiku inspired text about a musical structure beginning from a physical touch.
